Summary of Board and Planning Commission Direction This document summarizes direction received from the Planning Commission at a series of three work sessions in 2003. It is accompanied by an appendix with supporting demographic data and an overview on deed restrictions. Program Name The term “Community Housing’ will be used to describe housing programs and units that might result from this effort. Intended Beneficiaries e Gunnison County's Community Housing efforts will seek to insure that a broad range of housing opportunities are available for a diverse population. Emphasis will be targeted on year-round residents though the needs of seasonal workers who support our economy are not to be ignored. e Inthe future, at least 25% if not more of the county's housing should be appropriate and affordable for families with children. (In 2000, 25% of the county's households included at least one child.) e Inthe future, the percentage of housing available and affordable for seniors should increase with growth in demand above the 2000 level of 11%. e Efforts to address the unique housing needs of specific market segments, like Hispanic workers, should be considered.
